We are patriotic Namibians, passionate about our country, it's people, it's breathtaking beauty and largely untouched nature. We are also keen mountain bikers who feel that our experiences in Swakopmund's surroundings are too good not to share. You can imagine our delight when introduced to fat bikes!!! An opportunity to explore the vast sea of dunes in our backyard suddenly became possible without the need for motorised vehicles or having to walk far... which also excited us as we strive to have as little impact on this fragile, natural habitat as possible. Not only do the balloon-like tyres allow for almost effortless floating over pebbles and sand but because of a wider contact area, the rider's weight is more spread and a fat bike's tacks far shallower than even footprints - making it the most ecological way to explore our delicate desert. We also hope to instil an appreciation and respect for the Namib desert habitat and its vast animal and plant life.
Our 2 hour tours depart daily from our office in the Swakopmund town center at 8h30, 11h00 & 14h30. Tours are designed for both the not-so-fit and the experienced rider.
Scenic Desert Tour
What a thrill to be able to ride a bike up a dune... never could we have imagined it until the arrival of the fat bike! On our Scenic Desert Tour you take in the silence and breathtaking scenery of the oldest desert in the world while feeling the fresh coastal air and enjoying the thrill of cycling up and down Namibia's famous dunes. Guaranteed to excite and offer an unforgettable and unique cycling experience. For both the scenic appreciator and adrenalin seeking adventurist.
The scenic desert tour is around 12 - 14km long and includes cycling in town, through the dry river bed and up and down stunning dunes. Although everyone appreciates the amazing scenery, a relative level of fitness and knowing how to ride a bicycle is required to fully enjoy this tour. For the unfit and unexperienced rider we recommend one of our other equally special tours.

Free Permits for entering the DOROB National Park can be obtained from the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, c/o Bismarck str. & Sam Nujoma Ave, Swakopmund, Tel: 064 - 404 576. We advise you to familiarise yourself with the information in the pamphlet that comes with the permit before entering the Park.
Fat bike touring is the most ecological way to explore the desert's delicate habitat, because there is no noise or air pollution and the tyres' wider contact area means that the tracks are far shallower than even footprints.
