N'kwazi Lodge and Campsite
Rundu0:15 from Rundu
n'Kwazi Lodge and Camping Site is situated on the banks of the mighty Okavango River. 18 spacious thatched en-suite bungalows are shaded by huge Kalahari Cluster-leave trees, and most of the property is covered with well maintained lawns. 13 of the bungalows has a great unobscured view of the Okavango River and Angola on the other side. The other 5 has nice garden views. A wide variety of birds can be viewed either by walking about the lodge, or on our sunset river cruises.
The most awesome sunset pictures have been taken by many guest on our cruises and from the lounge. Community exposure is provided with guided village tours, walking from village to village and seeing how the local people live today, talking with them and hearing what they have to say about life in the community. Traditional dances are held in the lounge when there is more than 10 guests that are interested. Our pre-primary school, which is supported by donations, has +-40 children from the community every year, with 3 teachers guiding them in their future. Electricity only comes on for about 4 hours every night, but the free Wi-Fi in the bar runs on solar during the day. All the bungalows has solar lights for those wishing to read deep into the night.
Did You Know?
Every once in a while, the Okavango River floods with the massive rains which falls in Angola, then we become n'Kwazi "Island" Lodge. We then park all our vehicles, as well as all the guests that stays with us, 2 km away at our n'Kwazi Lodge Safe Park Zone, and take the guests to the lodge with our boats. It took us 2 years to lift the level of the lodge so that we are not in danger of flooding again, and it gave us a very interesting look as well. All the bungalows, the bar/lounge and dining room is now sunken in the ground.
