What To Do?

Ideal for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, geologists, hikers, or for those looking to get away from it all and absorb the tranquil seclusion and peacefulness of nature, Kanaan N/a’an ku sê Desert Retreat offers guests the opportunity to experience the following:

  • Dune and Farm Sundowner Drive: See our panoramic sunset and enjoy a drink on the magical red dunes with endless views and vistas. Experience the fauna and flora so typical to this desert area and be inspired by the Quiver Tree Forest’s will to survive in the barren land.
  • Photography Opportunities: Kanaan N/a’an ku sê is a photographers dream offering you a chance to capture great shots of the oldest desert in the world as well as wildlife. Ambassador carnivores from our Conservation Project include Cheetah and Caracal and the photography of these is just so much easier on this property both for the animal and the photographer.
  • Conservation and Research Experiences: At Kanaan N/a’an ku sê Desert Retreat we are committed to playing a key role in the conservation and protection of Namibian Wildlife and Land, therefore we have joined forces with the Brown Hyaena Research Project under the leadership of Dr. Ingrid Wiesel, who obtained her PhD in Predatory and Foraging behavior of Brown Hyaenas. By researching the brown hyena in its natural habitat, solutions can hopefully be created for the long-term conservation and survival of free-ranging hyaena and its fragile habitat.
