Ietsiemeer Guesthouse
Henties BayIn Henties Bay
Nestled between the caressing waves of the Atlantic and the rolling dunes of the Namib, lies a luxurious haven for wandering spirits ready to escape the rat race. Situated in the quiet fisherman's town, HentiesBay, the Ietsiemeer guesthouse will exceed your wildest expectations with its panoramic views of the ocean and its award winning architectural design.
Guests will appreciate the pristine harmony of the Namibian landscape incorporated into the natural building material from the Namib Desert and surrounds. It creates a tranquil atmosphere with relaxing and warm informal spaces.
We offer luxury self-catering accommodation for groups of up to 20 people sharing, making Ietsiemeer ideal for a romantic breakaway, family holiday, special celebration or corporate planning session. Guest facilities include 6 en-suite sea-facing bedrooms, and 4 en-suite courtyard bedrooms.
Overlooking the ocean, the deck provides the perfect setting for spectacular afternoon sunsets while the inviting courtyard, laid out in a typical Namibian-braai formation, provides the necessary shelter from cool evening sea breezes.
To make your stay as comfortable as possible, Ietsiemeer is tastefully furnished and equipped to a high standard of luxury. Meals can be arranged on request, including an authentic Namibian braai.
Did You Know?
- Namibia is known for turning up surprises when it is least expected. This time it is the rather sleepy fishing village of Henties Bay on the Skeleton Coast. Known as an excellent fishing destination, (think kabeljou, steenbras) and the longstanding tradition of the inhabitants to give rather humoristic names to their fisherman's cabins, Henties Bay has earned itself the reputation for being the "farmer's Bahamas".
- It is therefore not the place to expect an award winning architectural holiday home. The house boasts building material from Namibia such as the large stone lintels from the desert, hard quartz from the Gamsberg, light-coloured stone from the Swakop riverbed and with all masonry and carpentry completed by Namibian artisans.
- The Ietsiemeer distinctly recognizable water tower structure, that supports a water tank molded into the shape of a traditional mahango-grain silo, (as found in northern Namibia), has become a landmark in Henties Bay.
