Doro Nawas

Khorixas4:30 from Windhoek

"Doro Nawas Camp, located within the Doro !Nawas Conservancy in central Damaraland, consists of 16 units: a mix of stone and canvas walls with wood and glass doors, shaded by a thatch roof. Each unit, designed to blend into the hillside, consists of a bedroom, en-suite bathroom (with indoor and outdoor shower) and a veranda for stargazing or sleep-outs. The main area is perched atop a rocky knoll and offers unspoilt, 360 degree views of the surrounding landscape and is made up of indoor and outdoor dining areas, pool area, bar and a local curio area. A staircase to the flat roof leads to relaxing sundowners and stargazing.

Whilst the landscape does not support huge wildlife populations, desert-adapted life such as springbok, gemsbok and even elephant do occur. We therefore offer nature drives in open Land Rovers, exploring the Aba-Huab river system, as well as the incredible geological phenomena of Petrified Forest, Burnt Mountain and Organ Pipes.  Another highlight are a visit to the ancient San rock art at Twyfelfontein, a World Heritage Site.

Did You Know?

You can roll out your bed onto your own verandah facing the valley at night, and sleep under the open skies.

All units come with indoor and outdoor showers for a different experience and maximize enjoyment of the outdoors.

Interesting tours, other than visiting the main attractions of the Damaraland region, include a scenic drive ending with river lunch or scenic walk ending at ""Little Table Mountain”, as well as visits to the Doro !Nawas Conservancy village and learning about the Damara/Nama language and traditions.
